Nzem Berom

The largest cultural festival in Plateau State, folding several older Berom festivals into one celebration.

Date not announced

No date has been announced. Nzem Berom usually falls in March – April, and that window is all we are willing to publish. Nzem Berom is nominally an April festival and the 2025 edition ran on 2 May, so do not book flights against a window.

Nzem Berom was instituted by the Berom Educational and Cultural Organization as a unifying festival, bringing together older observances tied to the farming and hunting year — Mandyeng, Nshok, Badu and others — into a single celebration held centrally in Jos.

Expect cultural display, music, dance and a procession for the Gbong Gwom Jos. Traditional dress runs heavily to green and maroon.

The festival draws thousands of visitors and is comfortably the strongest single reason to time a trip to Jos. Dates move: confirm before you book.
