The range east of the city. Hiking, scrambling, and the view that explains why Jos sits where it does.
Shere Hills is the rugged range immediately east of Jos and the highest ground in the area. It draws hikers and climbers from well beyond Plateau State.
This is a genuine hike, not a viewpoint you drive to. Go with someone who knows the routes, carry more water than feels necessary, and start early enough to be off the hill in good time.
Phone signal is patchy on the range. Download your route before you leave the city.

When to go
Dry season, November to February. Trails get slick and visibility drops in the rains.
