Riyom Rock

The stacked boulder formation that ended up on the state crest. Plateau's most recognisable silhouette.

A balanced stack of granite that rises straight out of the plain, Riyom Rock is the image most people carry of Plateau State without knowing its name.

There is a climbable section that opens onto a long view across the surrounding country. It also carries real significance for the communities around it — worth understanding before you arrive.

The drive out is a good part of the experience. Combine it with Shere Hills only if you start very early.
