Ron · Butura Wur, Bokkos

Nahwai

The annual festival of the Ron Butura of Bokkos, and the one Discover Jos has followed most closely of the out-of-city celebrations.

Date not announced

No date has been announced. Nahwai usually falls in February, and that window is all we are willing to publish. Nzem Berom is nominally an April festival and the 2025 edition ran on 2 May, so do not book flights against a window.

Nahwai is held by the Butura community of Bokkos Local Government Area, and is reported as falling on 22 February, with the 2026 edition announced for 21 February. Treat the day as indicative until organisers confirm it.

The festival runs to traditional dance, indigenous music and exhibitions of local produce, and is explicitly framed by its organisers as a unity and cultural-tourism occasion rather than a purely internal observance.

A stone causeway at Butura is presented as a centrepiece of the festival, and is described locally as more than two thousand years old.

Bokkos is a long drive from Jos. Plan transport and an overnight stay rather than treating this as a day trip.
